Elyos vs Asmodian: Choosing and Switching Factions in Aion 2

When you start in Aion 2, one of the first big decisions is choosing your faction: Elyos or Asmodians. This choice affects your character’s look, starting area, and even your gameplay vibe. While you can technically play both factions, switching is not straightforward. Here’s a guide from an experienced gamer’s perspective.

Choosing Your Faction

Gameplay-wise, both factions share the same classes, skills, and core mechanics. The differences are mostly visual and environmental, but they can shape your experience.

  • Elyos
Elyos characters have a bright, "angelic" aesthetic. Think light-colored wings, flowing armor, and radiant features. Their homelands, Elysea, are lush, sunlit regions full of greenery and warm tones. If you enjoy a visually uplifting world and graceful character designs, Elyos are your pick.
  • Asmodians
Asmodians are the darker, edgier counterpart. They sport bat-like wings, glowing combat eyes, and often a striking back mane. They live in the harsh, shadowy lands of Asmodae, featuring frozen plains and rugged terrain. Asmodians appeal to players who like a moody, intense environment with a more "badass" look.

Faction Balance

Population matters. Historically, Elyos servers have had more players, which can mean more competition for resources, dungeons, and Abyss points. Aion 2 balances PvP by pairing servers—high-population Elyos servers often face high-population Asmodian servers in Rifts and Abyss combat. So your choice can affect both solo play and group PvP opportunities.

Switching Factions

Here’s the hard truth: Aion 2 does not offer a simple faction switch. There’s no in-game ticket or button to flip your faction while keeping your main character.

  • Account & Server Lock
Each account or server is typically locked to a single faction. This prevents cross-faction spying, trading, or unfair advantages.
  • Playing the Other Side
If you want to experience the other faction, your options are:
    1. Create a new account – start fresh and pick the opposite faction.
    2. Join a different server – some servers allow Elyos on one and Asmodians on another.
  • Faction Creation Limits
To maintain balance, servers may temporarily restrict new character creation for the more popular faction. Keep an eye on server population if you’re trying to play the less-represented side.

Choosing Elyos or Asmodians isn’t just a cosmetic choice—it shapes your world, your social interactions, and your PvP experience. While you can’t simply switch your main character’s faction, exploring the other side with a new account or server can be a fun way to see the full game world.

Pick the faction that matches your style, and dive in. Both sides have their unique appeal, and understanding the differences will make your Aion 2 adventure smoother and more satisfying.
